I Hope You Dance - 10 Reasons To Line Dance
72Dancing Like The Cowgirls Do
Line Dancing Is Fun !
The number 1 reason line dancers do it is for FUN!
It's a laugh, it's a blast, it's friendly, happy, endorphin injected, pure unadulterated unashamed FUN!
What more can I say, if you're already doing it you'll agree, if you aren't then get out to a line dancing venue with a good teacher and join in the fun.
Line Dancing Is Friendly.
You'll meet some amazing, fun loving people, and they'll welcome you in.
Everyone I've ever met at line dancing is Friendly.
Go along alone or with a friend and you'll be made to feel welcome. You'll find a great atmosphere and lovely people. I don't understand why but line dancing just seems to attract the friendliest people.
But It's Not All Cowboys
Line Dancing is For Everyone
Whatever your age - anywhere from 5 to 95. (You can dance after 95 if you wish, I just said 5 to 95 for effect) as long as you can walk, you can line dance.
This is good clean family fun (most of the time!).
Kids love it and everyone acts like kids anyway!
Party Time
Line Dancing Doesn't Need a Partner
Ever fancied dancing but the whole partner thing puts you off?
Great News! You can experience the thrill of dancing with other people but without needing a partner. If you like dancing with a partner as well, no problem, we have partner dances too.
Let yourself go. Just be responsible for your own moves and mistakes. (Great for feminists I imagine).
A Chance To Show Off
Experience the Freedom of Dance and Music
Ever seen the film Billy Elliot? Fancied the freedom of dance but not the rigor of ballet?
Do you like music?
Then you're gonna love line dancing. There's such a feeling that greets you and stays with you when you experience dancing.
Ok some of you may not like country. Well we dance to all kinds of music as well as country and the country that we dance to is good stuff.
Line Dancing is International
Once you learn the basic moves, you can line dance all over the world.
I've danced in the States and the U.K. and it's more or less the same crazy, friendly people I've met.
You can dance in Canada,Europe, Australia... sorry I'd have to list nearly every country if I start.
Kids of All Ages
Line Dancing is Good Physical Exercise
I don't want to put anyone off by mentioning exercise!!
This is exercise you do without thinking because you're enjoying it so much.
...and it's as hard or as easy as you want it to be. You can take small steps if you wish or you can run and skip around the room. You can avoid the more strenuous dances if you must. You can work yourself up to them. You can dance for hours or you can sit chatting for hours.
Line Dancing is Good Mental Exercise.
What? Mental exercise? How does that work?
Well you don't just learn one dance and dance that for the rest of your life. Oh no, not that easy!
You can learn maybe a couple of new dances every week and that can really tax your gray cells... but hey who said keeping young was going to be easy? There are dancers in their 80s with more learning capacity than me (but we build up to that)
Even Hippies Can Line Dance
Line Dancing is Cheap
I know that this matters to a lot of people. A good night out can be beyond your reach and with many hobbies there's special clothing and equipment to buy.
NOT WITH LINE DANCING.
Jeans and a T shirt. Some shoes or boots suitable for dancing is your major expense after that it can cost very little.
The venues and classes are usually very affordable.
You won't want to drink much alcohol, unless it's a special occasion, because you wouldn't be capable of dancing!!
Sense of Achievement
When you start learning a dance and think I'll never learn this, and then you do and you enjoy it and you feel that you have achieved something good and worthwhile.
Typical Club - No Hats, No Outfits, Just Fun
To Sum Up
Line dancing is about having good fun with friends, experiencing the freedom of dance and enjoyment of music. It's great exercise both for body and mind and fantastic anti ageing therapy and on top of all that it gives you a wonderful sense of achievement.
If you aren't dancing you're not living.

I have this little country place I drive by occasionally and it is called Cow Town, USA. they advertise line dancing and I never see that it is open....else I would join as it does look fun. Nice use of pics in your hub. i promised I would visit, so here I am....
Must say I agree with our last line - to dance is to live! I used to say if you can walk you can dance -but actually these guys http://hubpages.com/hub/Competitive-Wheelchair-Dan prooved that wrong!
Cool - I saw you on the forum too, and thought I should read about line dancing. I love to dance (though sadly, the older I get the less I do). This was fun to read and made me want to kick up my heels! Great job.
Another dancer here! Flamenco, bellydance and ballroom for me, but I have tried line-dancing and found it fun. If you want to see proof that line-dancing is suitable for all ages, check out the video on this Hub:
Wow great hub !
Hi there, I saw your post on the forum and thought I'd come by and learn about line dancing. Thanks for the hub! I've never been line dancing before -- only watched.
It's looks pretty cool dancing. LOL I would love to try this one but I don't think we have that here. Hmmm maybe I can start a fad?
That we do. We tried various forms of music - from the 70's, 80's, disney's theme songs and our local folk songs. We just had our culminating program where the kids performed on stage for their parents. They were beautiful. But I like this line dancing thing. It's interesting. :-)
Line dancing can be a ton of fun! Great way to promote the activity. Thanks for the "fun" HUB. If you haven't tried it get up and dance!
LOL I think the line dancing will be for me!
Great energy in your writing. I live to dance, too. My favorites are ContraDance, English Counrty Dance, Scandanavian and international folk dance. I have a page on Contra Dance. The music is the Anglo/Celtic root of what we call Country Music.
Loved this hub, and love line dancing! My hubby's a dear, but won't dance..so this saves me! AND, to Mark K. ... at my daughter's recent wedding in Denver (but we're all basically from OK) one of the song's was Garth Brooks' I've Got Friends in Low Places...my California/Berkeley relatives were the only ones who couldn't join in on the group sing-a-long out on the dance floor. And, yep, some songs just get the whole place up on their feet! It was a cultural phenomenon to for the CA group to see how amazing it was that the rest of us ALL knew this song, and a phenomenon for the rest of us to see that these Berkeley,CA, relatives didn't have the slightest clue!
And About-th-Home, I agree with your comment to Steph, the more I do, the younger I get!
i went to learn one linedance at a local club that was three years ago.hooked just lov it everyone so friendly

Mark Knowles 4 years ago
Well, I saw you on the forum and decided to pay a visit :)
One of the weirdest experiences I had in the USA was a country and western club in Oklahoma. I stopped in for a drink one evening - then one song came on and the entire bar emptied and everyone went to the dance floor. I didn't even know what a line dance was LOL
Now I do :)
